Alton Appleton, MD

Psychiatrist

Dr. Appleton is an immigrant from Jamaica who served 10 years in the Jamaican Military before pursuing his medical career. He attended Middlesex County College prior to matriculating to Seton Hall University, where he double majored in Chemistry and Biology.

He was accepted into Cooper Medical School in Camden, NJ, and later completed his psychiatry residency at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.

Dr. Appleton has a deep understanding of how mental illness can become a barrier to overcoming life’s challenges. His clinical focus is centered on helping patients manage psychiatric conditions while empowering them to improve their quality of life and overcome adversity.


Dr. Shakevia V. Johnson, M.D., M.S.

Psychiatrist

Dr. Shakevia V. Johnson is a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. A Mississippi native, she completed her psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and has also practiced in Boston, where she focused on addiction psychiatry and integrated behavioral healthcare. Dr. Johnson provides compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. She takes a patient-centered approach, working collaboratively with each person to develop an individualized treatment plan focused on stability, wellness, and long-term recovery.


Marsha Campbell

Practice Manager

Originally from Jamaica, Marsha Campbell brings a strong background in banking, accounting, and management to her role as Practice Manager. She is a Certified Physician Practice Manager and holds a degree in Accounting and Management.

Marsha transitioned into healthcare administration with a passion for creating efficient, well-organized practices where both patients and staff feel supported. In her role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the clinic and works to ensure that ev
